Texas Screens Data Center Power Requests

ERCOT and the Texas Public Utility Commission are replacing largely individual reviews of large data center power requests with a batch process beginning with Batch Zero.
The rules are intended to distinguish projects with land, financing, equipment, and other evidence of readiness from speculative requests while allocating limited transmission capacity; later projects may face multi-year waits. ERCOT is also advancing requirements for data centers and other large loads to remain online during brief grid disruptions, although implementation details and project prioritization remain unsettled.
