Climate Adaptation and Preparedness

Coverage from Tyndall Centre, Wiley, and others

Climate adaptation depends on more than identifying risks: cities, governments, and communities must translate them into funded measures, clear responsibilities, public participation, and systems for tracking results.

Assessments of thousands of urban plans have found that implementation timelines are often clearer than measurable goals or monitoring arrangements. National plans increasingly address health, but gaps remain in financing, coordination with health authorities, engagement of vulnerable groups, and coverage of issues such as mental health and heat exposure. Preparedness also varies widely across countries and communities, making institutional capacity and locally usable action central to resilience.
