El Dorado Data Center Ban Petition

El Dorado, Kansas, residents are seeking to prohibit certain large data centers and Tier 2 and 3 battery energy storage systems through a petition backed by more than 700 signatures.

A Butler County judge is considering whether the petition presents a legislative policy question or an administrative challenge to the city’s permitting framework under Ordinance G1463. The ruling, expected after continued arguments on August 21, will determine whether the proposal can proceed toward city action or a possible ballot measure.
