INEOS has launched Project Greensand in Denmark as the European Union’s first full-scale CO2 storage site. The project will collect primarily biogenic CO2 from Danish biomethane plants, transport it through the Port of Esbjerg, and inject it into the depleted Nini West oil field beneath the North Sea. Initial storage capacity is expected to reach 400,000 tonnes annually, with planned expansion to 4 million–8 million tonnes per year.
