Muncie Flock Cameras Face Scrutiny

Muncie police and Delaware County authorities are facing renewed scrutiny over Flock Safety automated license plate readers after a camera near Ball State University was cut down and agencies denied access to surveillance-system logs.

Police say the cameras support criminal investigations, missing-person searches, and traffic cases under stated law-enforcement restrictions and generally 30-day deletion rules. The dispute centers on whether public oversight, audit controls, and transparency commitments are sufficient for technology that records vehicle movements across the region.
