SpaceXAI Replaces Memphis Data Center Turbines

SpaceXAI is expanding its Colossus AI data-center operations in the Greater Memphis area while replacing 69 temporary natural-gas turbines with a permitted 1.

2-gigawatt plant containing 41 turbines. The transition follows litigation and local concerns about air pollution, odors, noise, and Clean Air Act compliance, with final turbine removal allowed by July 2027. SpaceXAI is also spending heavily on Tesla Megapacks to support the sites and reduce blackout risk, although the proposed fourth facility’s power and cooling capacity remain uncertain.
