Robots Take On Data Center Maintenance

Meta is testing robots from ABB, Kinova, and Watney Robotics for tasks such as cable changes, server power cycling, inspections, inventory movement, and rack handling at data centers in the United States.

The trials remain early, with current systems slower than people, dependent on supervision, and limited by battery life, navigation, and cabling challenges. If the technology becomes reliable, it could reduce repetitive technician work and change how operators justify staffing and employment benefits around large data center projects.
