Project Hazelnut Data Center
Coverage from Lehigh Valley Live, PhillyVoice, and others

Project Hazelnut is a proposed, large-scale data center campus that NorthPoint Development has sought to build on roughly 1,100 to 1,300 acres in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania.
Plans have described up to 15 buildings and a possible connection to Amazon Web Services, alongside transmission infrastructure including the proposed Sugarloaf line. The development has faced local zoning and court proceedings, organized resident opposition, and questions about water and power use, noise, traffic, land clearing, and property values. NorthPoint has also proposed household payments and other community benefits, making the project a local debate over development, infrastructure, and the terms of community consent.
New reporting adds a township development moratorium, expected to expire in December, and says the Sugarloaf transmission line has faced delays or regulatory pauses. Amazon Web Services is also identified as the intended customer or project affiliate, though reporting does not establish a definitive agreement.
