Meta Expands AI Data Centers Globally

Meta and major Indian data center developers are advancing large AI-focused facilities, including a planned 168 MW site in Jamnagar, India, a 1 GW campus in Alberta, Canada, and an operational AI-optimized facility in Texas.
The projects rely on early power coordination, renewable energy procurement, specialized cooling, and local infrastructure investment to support high-density workloads. Their scale also brings scrutiny over electricity demand, water use, emissions, noise, and whether planned capacity will secure enough customers.
The story is mostly stable, but the framing now emphasizes power-system planning and operating status more than separate project announcements. It also drops Temple, Texas from the location list and narrows the emphasis on risks to whether proposed capacity will actually be used.
The biggest change is that Meta's Alberta project and Texas campus are no longer just planned: the Texas site has opened, while the Alberta campus is now tied to a specific $9 billion-plus build and active power coordination. The India side also sharpens into a concrete lease-and-expansion story, with larger capital and capacity targets from RMZ and AdaniConneX.
