Mason County Certifies Twin Data Centers

West Virginia has certified Starwood Digital Ventures’ $12 billion Project Tamarack and Nscale’s Monarch Compute Campus as high-impact data center projects in Mason County.

The developments are planned to use closed-loop cooling and privately funded infrastructure, limiting anticipated water use and pressure on electricity ratepayers. Together, they would bring substantial construction and permanent employment while adding major electricity demand to the region’s longer-term generation plans, although both remain planned projects rather than completed facilities.
