Lyon Township is reviewing Project Flex, a proposed six-building, 1.
8 million-square-foot data center campus from Verrus and Walbridge on 172 acres near South Lyon. Residents oppose the project over its proximity to homes, a school and an airport, as well as concerns about noise, traffic, water, energy costs, drainage and property values. The township has delayed final action and imposed a temporary moratorium on other large developments while required studies and site-plan details remain under review; Verrus has warned that further delays could prompt legal action.
The main update is that Project Flex has moved into a more defined township review stage: the Planning Commission conditionally approved the site plan in September 2025, but final board approval is still pending amid unresolved technical concerns. The current version also adds that Verrus may pursue legal action if delays continue.
