Data Center Sustainability topic image

Data center sustainability brings together the choices that shape a facility’s environmental footprint, from where it is built and how it gets electricity to how it cools equipment and manages water.

Operators and researchers are exploring renewable power agreements, workload shifting to better match clean-energy availability, and liquid or closed-loop cooling; in suitable locations, recovered heat can serve nearby uses. Grid capacity, water stress, emissions from construction and hardware, disclosure, and community participation are also part of planning for data centers that support AI and other computing demands.
