Colorado Springs Sets Data Center Standards

Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade introduced six standards for evaluating data center proposals, covering ratepayer protection, electricity and water requirements, neighborhood impacts, community benefits, and public participation.

The framework will shape review of Project Taurus, a proposed 50-megawatt facility near Garden of the Gods Road, while the City Council considers an appeal in September. Its practical effect will depend on how the standards are applied and whether the project is approved, conditioned, or halted.
