Cloud Data Resilience

Coverage from The Register, Ars Technica, and others

Cloud Data Resilience topic image

Cloud data resilience concerns how hosted data can remain protected and recoverable when failures affect availability zones or entire regions.

Redundancy within one region may not be enough when a correlated physical disruption damages multiple zones, as damage to AWS facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates demonstrated. Independent geographic or inter-cloud backups can reduce reliance on a single region, but recovery also depends on whether backup data and infrastructure are accessible and usable.
