Chicago Landmark Office Conversion Advances

A proposal to convert floors two through six of Chicago’s historic 300 West Adams office building into a data center has received initial approval from the city’s landmark review committee.

The plan includes a ComEd electrical vault and ten rooftop backup generators, but the full Commission on Chicago Landmarks must still decide the proposal. The conversion illustrates how data center projects can advance through adaptive reuse while facing preservation concerns and additional infrastructure requirements.
