AMD Helios Rack Challenges Nvidia

AMD has launched Helios, a 72-GPU rackscale AI system that combines Instinct GPUs, Epyc CPUs, Pensando networking, ROCm software, and liquid cooling in one integrated platform.

Shipments are expected by the end of the third quarter of 2026, while AMD and Schneider Electric have published designs for deploying Helios in racks of up to 246 kW and new AI clusters of up to 10.4 MW. The launch gives AMD a more complete alternative to Nvidia’s integrated systems, although AMD’s performance and cost claims still require independent validation.
