Akita Plans ¥2 Trillion AI Center

S2 and Bitgrit are planning a 300–500 MW AI data center in Akita City, Japan, with construction costs estimated at about ¥2 trillion and operations targeted for the early 2030s.

The project has secured land in an industrial park and may use renewable power, but financing, grid interconnection, construction milestones, operating partners, and customer commitments remain unresolved.
