Nevada regulators approved two privately financed methane gas plants totaling more than 360 megawatts to supply Fleet Data Centers near the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in Storey County. The plants are expected to operate for two to three years while NV Energy develops permanent service, subject to environmental and local permits. The decision has drawn opposition over emissions, public-health risks, grid governance and whether the projects must comply with Nevada’s 2030 renewable portfolio standard.
