Washington Joins Carbon Market Linkage topic image

Washington, California, and Quebec have agreed on a framework to link their carbon markets, moving Washington closer to formal integration with an established regional cap-and-invest system.

The linkage is intended to expand the pool of allowances, reduce price volatility, and make compliance planning easier for regulated emitters. The development comes as Washington continues regular sold-out auctions and as state-level climate programs gain importance amid weaker federal climate action.
