Texas Tightens Residential Solar Sales

Texas is adding state oversight of residential solar sales by requiring companies and individual salespeople to register with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The rules also support registration verification, seller and contract disclosures, cancellation rights, restrictions on solicitation, and penalties for violations. The changes respond to scrutiny of alleged misleading sales practices, costly contracts, faulty or missing installations, and companies becoming difficult for customers to pursue.
