NOAA Withdraws Arctic Report Support

The Trump administration has withdrawn NOAA’s coordination and logistical support for the annual Arctic Report Card, a peer-reviewed assessment tracking changes in the Arctic climate and ecosystem.

NOAA says relevant agency data will remain publicly available, but the report may no longer be issued as a NOAA technical publication or receive the agency’s usual communications support. Scientists warn that disrupting the report’s continuity could weaken climate intelligence, risk assessment, and planning as the Arctic records exceptional warming, sea-ice loss, and permafrost impacts.
