Meta’s Idaho Data Center Cuts Water

2 billion data center in Kuna, Idaho, using a closed-loop cooling system that recirculates about 200,000 gallons and reduces routine cooling-water additions. The company is also backing three solar projects totaling 645 megawatts through an agreement with Idaho Power and funded a $100 million water and wastewater plant for the city. The facility illustrates efforts to limit the local water and electricity impacts of expanding data-center infrastructure, while ancillary water use and the timing of solar generation remain less clear.
