Equinor’s Texas Battery Enters Market

Equinor has begun commercial operation of the 100 MW/200 MWh Citrus Flatts battery facility in Harlingen, Texas.
Operated by its subsidiary East Point Energy and optimized by Danske Commodities, the merchant asset charges during lower-price periods, discharges during periods of higher demand, and provides grid services in ERCOT. The project is Equinor’s largest US battery facility and forms part of a broader planned expansion that includes four Virginia projects targeted for PJM service in 2027.
