Egypt’s Wind Push Gains Storage

8 GW of wind capacity in Egypt, with the 500 MW Amunet Gulf of Suez project operational and additional projects under construction at Gulf of Suez and Ras Ghareb. The expansion is paired with construction of Sungrow’s 50,000-square-meter battery-storage manufacturing facility in Ain Sokhna. Together, the projects indicate a linked buildout of renewable generation and storage-related industrial capacity, while construction is being adapted to extreme heat, wind, sand erosion, and difficult geology.
