BRICS Climate and Energy Policy
Coverage from Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Energetica India, and others

BRICS climate and energy policy brings together member states’ positions on how to pursue lower-emissions development while accounting for differing national needs, rising energy demand, and continued fossil-fuel use.
Cooperation spans solar power, smart grids, storage, hydrogen, electric mobility, and critical-mineral supply chains, alongside attention to climate adaptation and resilient infrastructure. BRICS also connects the transition to questions of affordable finance, technology transfer, industrial development, and fairness in global trade rules, including its opposition to unilateral carbon border measures. These debates show how climate action, energy security, and development are treated as linked policy concerns.
BRICS moved solar cooperation beyond a stated priority by adopting a photovoltaic industry action plan, though the broader financing and technology proposals remain dependent on implementation.
