Aptera's Solar Car Faces Production Test

Aptera Motors is preparing a lightweight, three-wheeled solar electric vehicle that combines integrated solar cells, aerodynamic design and a battery for extended range.

Independent testing in Southern California recorded enough solar generation for roughly 42 to 47 miles of driving over three days, while the company has generally described typical daily solar range as about 30 miles. The vehicle's production prospects remain uncertain because Aptera has experienced delays and faces financing, safety validation and low-volume manufacturing challenges.
