UNICEF Launches Coalition for Children's Rights in AI Governance

UNICEF, France, Spain, and international partners launched a coalition focused on protecting children’s rights and wellbeing as AI systems expand across education, advice, and everyday life.

The initiative brings together 17 supporting countries, UN bodies, and other stakeholders to share evidence, develop practical guidance, and ensure children are treated as rights holders in AI design and oversight. Its significance lies in converting broad child-safety commitments into coordinated international policy work, although implementation standards and participation remain under development.
