Anthropic Expands Claude Watermarking Worldwide

Anthropic is applying machine-readable provenance signals to Claude-generated text worldwide and adding signed C2PA metadata to supported images and files.

The rollout follows the European Union’s Article 50(2) transparency requirements and extends across Claude applications, APIs, cloud deployments, Claude Code, and enterprise use. The markings may support disclosure and audit processes, but detection indicates possible Claude involvement rather than definitive authorship, accuracy, or ownership, and can be weakened by substantial editing or translation.
