India Blocks Telegram Over NEET Fraud

India temporarily restricted Telegram nationwide ahead of the June 21 NEET-UG retake and separately ordered the platform to disable message editing in India through June 30.
Authorities said scammers had used Telegram channels, groups, bots, and altered posts to promote fraudulent exam-leak claims, while Telegram and digital rights advocates argued that the measures punish legitimate users without addressing insider access or examination-system weaknesses. The dispute has expanded into a legal challenge and, according to network observers, a possible routing misconfiguration that disrupted access for some users in the UAE.
