Disneyland Deploys Facial Recognition

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure expanded facial recognition at park entrances to speed entry and reentry and help prevent ticket fraud.

Disney says participation is optional, offers manual-validation lanes, and generally deletes derived biometric values within 30 days, while privacy advocates and a proposed class action allege that disclosure, consent, treatment of children’s data, and retention practices are inadequate. The dispute illustrates growing scrutiny of biometric identification in public-facing entertainment venues.
