Democratic Party Discloses Delayed Member Breach

South Korea’s Democratic Party disclosed that an external cyberattack exposed the IDs, names, encrypted passwords, and email addresses of 17,088 Blue Wave online community members.

The intrusion is believed to have occurred on September 2, 2025, but was identified only about 11 months later after a government agency tip. The disclosure has prompted police and privacy-authority notifications, a security review, password changes, and criticism over delayed detection and member communication.
