Chinese Police Dashboard Exposes Foreigners' Data

An unsecured police surveillance dashboard in Zhangjiakou, Hebei, exposed extensive records on foreign residents and other people, including passport details, locations, travel, purchases, medical visits, religious information, and facial-recognition observations.

Public documents linked the platform to Beijing-based contractor Origin Dynamic and showed how police data could be combined for identification, monitoring, and relationship analysis. The exposure highlights the privacy and security consequences of aggregating sensitive data in police systems with weak access controls.
