Dylan in Cincinnati
Coverage from Shadow Chasing, 94matthewingate, and others

Dylan in Cincinnati is Graley Herren’s study of Bob Dylan’s performances in and around Cincinnati, from a 1965 Taft Theatre appearance through later touring eras.
The project combines concert reconstruction and close readings of songs with the history of local venues, Cincinnati’s civic life, and the musical traditions reflected in Dylan’s live repertoire. It considers how place, historical circumstances, setlists, and personal memory can reshape the meaning of performances, including interpretations of songs such as “Duncan and Brady” and “South of Cincinnati.” Published by the University Press of Mississippi, the work grows from Herren’s broader Dylan scholarship and Shadow Chasing research.
