Cat Power Sings Dylan

Cat Power Sings Dylan is Chan Marshall’s interpretation of Bob Dylan’s celebrated 1966 acoustic-electric set at Manchester’s Free Trade Hall.

The project recreates songs including “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Ballad of a Thin Man,” and “Just Like a Woman,” while preserving the tension between fidelity to Dylan’s arrangement and Marshall’s own vocal and emotional approach. Its live album uses the familiar but technically inaccurate Royal Albert Hall name, reflecting a long-standing misidentification of the Manchester recording. The project connects Dylan’s mid-1960s repertoire with Cat Power’s approach to performance, reinterpretation, and musical homage.
