FPV Combat Drone Warfare

Coverage from Africa Defense Forum, Militarnyi, and others

FPV Combat Drone Warfare topic image

FPV combat drones have become a significant part of contemporary warfare, combining inexpensive aircraft, live video, and precise operator control for reconnaissance, logistics, and attacks.

The Russia-Ukraine war illustrates their use against infantry, armored vehicles, artillery, supply routes, and electronic-warfare systems, as well as their growing threat to frontline civilians. Fiber-optic links can resist radio jamming, while electronic warfare, weather, terrain, payload limits, and improved defenses constrain effectiveness. The technology is reshaping production and combined-arms doctrine without replacing artillery, armor, aviation, or air defense.
