Terra B1 Interceptor Program

Terra Drone’s Terra B1 is a rocket-launched interceptor designed to counter inexpensive one-way attack drones and loitering munitions.

The system builds on the Terra A1, developed with Ukrainian partners and informed by battlefield experience, while Japan’s Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency selected the B1 through trials for production and intended Maritime Self-Defense Force use. The program also highlights 3D printing and distributed manufacturing as ways to build a domestic supply base, accelerate replacement, and reduce supply-chain vulnerability. Its significance lies in linking combat-informed design with Japan’s effort to develop scalable, lower-cost counter-UAS defenses.
