Teledyne Launches Black Recon Drone

Teledyne FLIR Defense has introduced Black Recon, a vehicle-mounted system that uses multiple sub-450-gram drones for persistent reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition.
The drones can launch, recover, recharge, and rotate autonomously while the crew remains inside the vehicle, with visual-inertial navigation intended to support operations when GNSS is unavailable or communications must be limited. The system is positioned for military and security missions, with initial deliveries expected in 2027 and future options including CBRN and other mission-specific sensors.
