Sikorsky Tests Nomad 100 VTOL Drone

Sikorsky is advancing the Nomad 100, an autonomous VTOL drone developed with DARPA’s Early VTOL Aircraft Demonstration program, from ground evaluations into broader flight testing.

Its rotor-blown wing design is intended to combine vertical takeoff and landing with wing-borne cruise, while the MATRIX autonomy system manages complex flight operations. The program could support runway-independent reconnaissance, resupply, maritime patrol, and other missions from austere sites, forward bases, or ship decks, although operational performance remains under evaluation.
