Israel Counters Hezbollah Fiber-Optic Drones

Hezbollah is using low-cost explosive FPV drones, including fiber-optic-linked models that are difficult to defeat with conventional radio-frequency jamming, against Israeli troops, tanks, and air-defense assets in and around southern Lebanon.

Israel is responding with a layered counter-drone effort that combines radar, optical and acoustic sensors, artificial intelligence, netting, close-range weapons, interceptors, lasers, and high-powered microwaves. The shift is driving faster procurement and field testing while exposing limits in existing electronic-warfare and air-defense systems.
