Pentagon Unmanned Systems Portfolio
Coverage from Newsmax, Defense News, and others

The Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager for Unmanned Systems (DRPM-UxS) is the Pentagon’s joint integrator for much of its unmanned and autonomous systems work, spanning smaller aircraft, ground robots, uncrewed vessels, counter-drone capabilities, and autonomy and swarming software.
Its remit connects program oversight and acquisition decisions with shared technical, interoperability and open-architecture standards. Joint Interagency Task Force 401 and the Defense Autonomous Warfare Group are aligned within this structure, while the Defense Innovation Unit serves as the main interface with commercial suppliers, including through Blue UAS certification and contracting pathways. Some major service-run acquisition programs remain separate, and underwater systems are coordinated with the submarine portfolio.
The current version clarifies that DRPM-UxS does not control every major unmanned acquisition: programs such as the Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft remain on existing service pathways. This qualifies the earlier picture of broad centralization.
