Archer Aviation is developing Midnight, an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft intended to carry passengers on urban trips and connections between cities and airports.

Its path to commercial service involves Federal Aviation Administration certification as well as production and financing challenges. Archer has also agreed to acquire Boeing businesses Wisk, Insitu, and SkyGrid, broadening its interests to autonomous aircraft, military drones, and air-traffic management. Together, these efforts show how the company is pursuing passenger aviation while building capabilities in adjacent areas of aviation and aerospace.
