AQNav on Lumberjack
Coverage from UAS Vision, Defence Blog, and others

SandboxAQ’s AQNav uses quantum magnetic sensing to help Northrop Grumman’s Lumberjack uncrewed aircraft determine its position without relying on GPS or other satellite signals.
Flight tests paired AQNav with visual navigation and included repeated launches, flights, and landings in GPS-denied conditions over land and open water. The Group 3 platform is designed for modular military roles, including reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and precision strike, making navigation resilience important when jamming or spoofing threatens conventional systems. The integration also illustrates how room-temperature quantum sensors and software can be added to an existing aircraft’s computing systems.
